Academic Calendar

Class Adjustment Period

A class adjustment period is scheduled separately from the regular class term. Make-up classes and exams are scheduled during this period according to the number of classes or progress of the course.

Class Time

1st Period 9:20 – 11:00
2nd Period 11:10 – 12:50 or 11:50 - 13:30
3rd Period 13:40 – 15:20
4th Period 15:30 – 17:10
5th Period 17:20 – 19:00
6th Period 19:10 – 20:50

Grading System

The academic evaluation and accreditation system at TGU are as follows. Please check with your university for the accreditation of credits earned at TGU.

Academic Evaluation

Passing score is 60 out of 100 points. Your transcript will have evaluations of “Excellent (100-90pts)”,“Superior (89-80pts)”, “Good (79-70pts)”, and “Fair (69-60pts)” for each course. When you get an evaluation of “Fail (under 59pts)” or “Disqualified (failing the course by not meeting minimum attendance requirement), the name of the course will not be listed on the transcript.

GPA System

GPA is a numerical value of average result of all grades. TGU has a GPA system and a GPA for each semester and a cumulative GPA are calculated.

Fail System

If a student misses more than 1/3 of the scheduled lessons for a course, credits for that course will not be granted and the student will receive an evaluation of “Fail” regardless of the result of exams or submission of reports.

Class Cancellation Policy

When any sort of emergency warning or storm warning is issued in Senshu area, classes are handled as follows:

When a warning is in effect as of 7:30am → Morning classes will be cancelled.
When a warning is issued after 7:30am → Morning classes after that time will be cancelled.
When a warning is in effect as of 11:00am → Afternoon classes will be cancelled.
When a warning is issued after 11:00am → Morning classes after that time and afternoon classes will be cancelled.

*Senshu-area: Sakai-shi, Izumi-shi, Takaishi-shi, Izumiotsu-shi, Tadaoka-cho, Kishiwada-shi, Kaizuka-shi,Kumatori-cho, Izumisano-shi, Tajiri-cho, Sennan-shi, Hannan-shi, Misaki-cho

When one of either Nankai Electric Railway Koya Line or Semboku Rapid Railway announces the suspension of operation, classes are handled as follows:

Operation continues to be suspended as of 7:30am → Morning classes will be cancelled.
Operation continues to be suspended as of 11:00am → All classes on that day will be cancelled.

Also, when either of the following is suspended, classes are handled as follows:

  1. JR Osaka Loop Line and Osaka Metro are suspended.
  2. JR Hanwa Line and Nankai Electric Railway Nankai Line are suspended.
  3. Nankai Bus which operates between the train station (Kongo/Izumigaoka) and campuses are suspended.
Operation continues to be suspended as of 7:30am → Morning classes will be cancelled.
Operation continues to be suspended as of 11:00am → All classes on that day will be cancelled.

Information about make-up classes and exams will be announced later by the instructor.

Exchange Student Courses

TGU provides the courses for exchange students to improve student’s Japanese language proficiency and also to enhance student’s understanding of Japanese culture.
